We have two cats and we have not been too creative with their names: Grigio (Gray) and Arancione (Orange). I had Grigio first, and then when I had Arancione I just wanted the names to match because I found it cute and that is how it happened.
Grigio is an elderly man, Arancione is still a teenager. They fight often, now more than last year when they first met. I think a lot has to do with Arancione entering adolescence. Most probably it also has a lot to do with me not playing with him so that he can discharge the huge amount of energy he seems to have.
My husband, their father, plays with him often, but he is not always at home, then poor Arancione is left alone to “play” with Grigio, who clearly hates to play at his age. I try to held and protect Grigio from Arancione, though, I should try to play more with Arancione.
Grigio means so much to me. He is the last vestiges of my grandmother, who took care of him until her last days. In my head, he carries her last hugs, her voice, her presence in a way. For me, having brought him from my homecountry meant bringing a tiny piece of my land with him and I am grateful for the open heart and arms my husband received him with.
Arancione is the present. My beautiful present. Arancione carries with him my marriage, and the first time my husband and I took care of someone else. The first time we worried together for someone else, the first time we got excited together to see a new being in our home. Arancione is playful, lively, a little bit crazy I'd say, but above everything love.
I love them both. This post is just to share that I have two cats and that I love them.
