The twins and the wind

Drawing and Photography by Madelaine Bustamante

He is like the wind,” she said.
“What?” I asked confused.
Shh, be quiet. Listen... isn’t it beautiful.” She said smiling and sat down on the floor. I sat down next to her, if it was mean to be this way, let the concert begin! And let us listen to it in peace.

After a while I just fell asleep. I dreamed I was flying among pink clouds, and they smelled like cotton candy. I woke up without seeing what was behind the biggest cloud, because I could see some kind of shape or shadow, and I was getting closer to find out what was it.
Ophelia was rocking me relentlessly when I opened my eyes, and as I tried to wake up with some difficulty, I saw her dropped face, she had been crying.

Tu Historia Sin Final

“¡Clara!”

¿Acaso me encontraba frente a mi propio precipicio?

The Prayer

Have I fallen in disgrace due to arrogance?

Oh, My Lord, have I been abandoned to choose my own path?

Will I find the way to my own salvation?

I have been trapped in distress… as salvation loses its meaning in every step I take.

If You are truly listening to me, would you save me?

If I am not meant to be “saved,”

And I have dragged myself too far from Your Mercy,

I will wander through the dark halls of the worlds until my soul will find its lost or “stolen” cause.

Will my foolish brain or my ridiculous heart guide me?

Will I discover new sources of enlightment?

Or will I just sink in my sorrow and stay stuck in a nameless land that promised me trascendency?

I have been doomed and damned with my endless curiosity.

And while expecting nothing, I hope for a good ending.

The Message

‪“She is very accommodating,” he said and I wondered if he thought he had to tell me that about my wife as if I didn’t know that. ‬
‪“I guess she was different when you were together,” he continued, and the reality stroke me. ‬
‪“She has always been very pleasing,” I assured him. I knew her better than anyone, he couldn’t possibly tell me something about her that I didn’t know.‬
‪“Then why did you leave her?” He asked abruptly and I wondered who he thought he was to ask so bluntly all this.‬
‪“Well, I would prefer to keep that for myself,” I told him and he laughed.‬
‪“She did said that would be your reaction,” He said sharply.‬
‪“Excuse me?” I answered.‬
‪“She just told me to let you know that she misses you and loves you the same. She will be waiting for you “in your usualy place” she said,” ‬
‪“Who are you?” And why would she sent a guy to tell me this? I thought annoyed.‬
‪“My job is done, I delivered the message. Goodbye.” He said and left. I felt the urge to call her but I lost interest while remembering the guy’s attitude, “Did she also tell him to take a certain position? Or was that just him? What was going on through her mind right now?” I found it extremely irritating and decided I should just go back to work and wait until lunch to ask her, she will surely explain without me even asking. I didn’t even leave her, what was he talking about? We have been married for seven years already. Was she bored again? What sort of game was that? Was she missing me? Couldn’t she just send me a message saying so as usual then? I noticed I was too distracted to go back to work, therefore I decided to take the rest of the morning free, and by that I meant to just pretend that I am working while walking around the office, because for some reason people keep on thinking that I am deeply lost in my thoughts when I do so, without knowing that I am always deeply lost in them.‬

Wisdom's Keys

The way I met Theo was interesting, even to me, to me that had recently met Mies and got insanely attached within a few days, as if meeting and connecting with someone so deeply wasn’t enough, I also had to meet Theo.

It was because of Mies that I met Theo, actually. Mies thought that it will be good for me to meet someone like Theo, as it was for himself; but even when I wasn’t convinced, I still wanted the help Mies talked to me about, and I ended up meeting Theo.

The first thing I can mention about Theo is this air of nobility that he has all over himself, or at least that’s how it felt for me, and I still wonder where does that come from, but maybe that is connected to Theo coming from such a faraway place... from such a long time ago; also, from his renowned background.

Mies stayed with me for as long as the situation allowed him to, and I can’t even explain the importance of his presence for me, he didn’t just give me the courage and motivation, but he was there with me and I couldn’t be any luckier to had met him, I will never get tired of mentioning this. Mies helped me to calm down and gave me the tools to get the most of this encounter... for my research of the truth. It was Mies that told me that I had to be relaxed, go with the intention to find the truth and the truth only, and that I had to know what my questions would be.
I felt extremely little the first time we met, I could tell even then who was the one in charge; also, I must say that it was a very intimate meeting, as it was only Theo and I at the end, which made me even more anxious while wondering constantly what would he think of me and what his attitude towards me will be, considering that, there I was, pretty much empty-handed, ready to ask this master-mind for guidance and countless questions, in exchange for what? This is something I still have to figure out.

But coming back to Theo, the formalities were brief between us, almost nonexistent; Mies told me that Theo knows me already, and I believe everything Mies says, why should I doubt him anyway? Therefore, other than my name, I said nothing else about me; but since I didn’t know Theo I had to ask who he was. There is no space for many questions in this kind of meetings though, which meant I had to get it all out of one question only, was that even possible? I asked Theo to introduce himself, and as daring and invasive as this can be, and even with such a personality, Theo answered me and took his time to describe himself. I even had to sit down because of the length of such a detailed answer, I was profoundly thankful with his attitude towards me, it was a real honor. I, certainly, wasn’t expecting him to be that nice, even if no one told me he was going to be bad to me, or anything similar.

The description Theo gave me may sound arrogant for others, but I want to clarify that when picking a guide, your guide is supposed to be honest, straight-to-the-point and objective, therefore Theo didn’t say anything out of arrogance, but just trying to enlighten me regarding who he really is.

Theo said he was wise, that’s the main idea I got from all what he said, he also said he was powerful, don’t ask me what kind of power he was referring to though, because then again that was asking a bit too much, but I had nothing to worry about and I got it, he gave me this feeling as if saying between the lines “don't be afraid,” there was a certain kindness in his fiery eyes, and that kindness was pushing me to trust him and I did. But this was just the beginning of a journey that, apparently, started the day I was born but just began to be told to me the day I met Mies, and I wasn’t looking forward to the end of it just yet.

I did ask Theo a second question that same day, addressing my main concern in that very moment, in fact, the question that was my reason to go to him; and then again, to my surprise, Theo replied seriously to my request and gave me some kind of peace of heart that I didn’t know I could be able to attain through that path. After all, have you ever gotten a sense of tranquility through keys? Not simple keys, actually, have you ever hold wisdom's keys? Well, Theo was their personification.

To his feet

There he was, so tired... and I understood it but I just thought words wouldn’t be of much help at the moment. I wondered whether he would see as weird what I was about to do or not... still I felt the urge to do it.

I sat down to his feet, with my face facing his knees, while looking at him, who was looking to his right, and I held his hands and kissed them.

Everything seemed, somehow, dreamy but a bit awkward to me, why was I sitting down to his feet? I could had sit down next to him and hug him as I did so many times before; instead here I was, sitting down to his feet as I imagined myself so many times and kissing his porcelain’s hands. Whether I was offering loyalty to my lord, promising eternal love to my beloved, or begging forgiveness to my master, I had no idea at this point, it just felt right. With him, it felt right.

He looked at me, and for a second I wondered what to expect, surprisingly enough he just kissed my hands back and I felt understood and respected. I couldn’t understand well what was going on, but what he did made me feel understood, if that makes any sense... it makes sense to me in any case.

Then I wondered if I should remain there, just looking at his eyes, while he was looking into mine. His eyes... how beautiful I always found the depth of his eyes, and the embracing sadness in them; sometimes, some sparkles of joy would appear in them too and that was enough.

After all, this life wasn’t mean to be perfect nor always happy, therefore as long as I was able to see some sparkles at times, I thought I was doing decent enough as his wife. Decent enough? Certainly I thought I was doing decent enough, but that didn’t mean I was actually doing it, that was for him to decide. I could only tell whether he was doing good enough as a husband or not, and for me he was the best husband in the world. I am not going to say everything was perfect between us, but everything was going on, and after two years of marriage he was still bearing with me, now that was remarkable for me.

On the other hand it didn’t matter how many good dishes I’d try to prepare for him, nor how clean the house would remain, it didn’t matter how pretty I’d always try to look for him nor how many articles I’d read about topics I am not truly interested in just to be able to have a conversation that’s sufficiently intellectually-stimulating for him; it seemed I always had to do more, no matter how many times he’d praise me.

Who could put up with all my moods as wonderfully as he always did? Who could handle my silence with such patience? Who could understand my ways  as good as him? The time we spent apart allowed me to meet many people that was willing to do so much for me, people that was good and understanding, but no matter how much other tried, I never felt as good as I did with him. I never felt like lying to anyone’s feet but his, I never felt like serving any other man than him, I never felt like loving and devoting myself to any other man than him. I still wonder if he felt something similar with me or with other women.

I started sobbing, suddenly a burst of emotions occured without warning and the coldness of the air shake me out, I felt scared and alone but it last nothing because in no time he was hugging me and calming me down. I smelled him and the warmth of his body was so comforting... I wanted to stay like that forever, with the safety of his love. I wanted him to give me that forever, I do, even now.
